Entrance Requirements
Mechanics Institute offers tuition-free evening training.

To qualify for admission into the programs, applicants must:
- present a college transcript, high school diploma, or GED
- present their Social Security card
- present a letter from their employer
- complete an Entrance Evaluation to assess entry-level competencies
Registration Fee
The registration fee is $100.00 per semester. Registration fees are due at the time of registration and must be in the form of money order, certified check, or credit card. Please note that all registration fees are non-refundable.
Entrance Evaluation
Applicants to the Electrical Technology and HVAC Systems Technology programs are required to take an entrance evaluation to determine their entry-level competencies in mathematics. This evaluation assesses the applicants' aptitudes with regard to the math skills necessary for our programs.
Applicants to the Electrical Technology program who fail to achieve a passing score on the evaluation must successfully complete the Vocational Mathematics course (MA VOC) prior to beginning instruction.

Mechanics Institute is a private school not under the purview of the New York Board of Education nor licensed by the New York State Education Department. The School's certificate of completion has no degree equivalence and is not necessarily recognized by other degree-granting institutions.
