Memoir Writing - Putting Your Life Story Down on Paper

Instructor: Anne Hosansky. Ms. Hosansky is the author of the memoir Widow's Walk and Turning Toward Tomorrow. Her articles and fiction have appeared in numerous national publications. For the past 18 years she has led a professional writers' workshop in Manhattan. She has also been a speaker about memoir writing for numerous venues including AARP's Widowed Persons Service, Kripalu Center, WomanSpace, Cancer Care, and Manhattan's 50-Plus Expo.
Special guest instructor: William Zinsser, author of numerous books about memoir writing including Writing About Your Life: A Journey into the Past; On Writing Well, 25th Anniversary: The Classic Guide to Writing Nonfiction; and Inventing the Truth: The Art and Craft of Memoir.
Subjects will include: What are memoirs and how they can help you; Silencing your inner critic; The importance of details; Families without censorship; Writing your way through loss; Travel times; Aging; Sensory impressions; Facing fears. Students will have the option of sharing their writings with course participants.
