BUILD YOURSELF. BUILD NEW YORK. Mechanics Institute offers tuition-free instruction to individuals who are employed in the building and construction trades and provides them with the technical knowledge necessary to advance in their respective fields.
The General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen offers internships for graduate and undergraduate students each fall, spring, and summer. In the fall and spring, interns can work part-time with a flexible schedule of 8-10 hours per week during the semester. In the summer, the internship can be full-time or part time Monday through Friday 9 AM to 5 PM. Interns work on a volunteer basis but may be compensated by grants and special donations.
Internships are available in the following areas: Library, General Society Museum & Archives, Landmarks, Literature and Labor Lecture Series, and Mechanics' Institute
